In celebration of reaching 6 months of my natural grey hair journey, I decided to change my profile image today, to mark this special occasion and milestone.
If I’m honest, getting this far has surprised even myself. I love looking in the mirror and seeing my silver strands shining back at me.
I also love the way the black hair frames my face when I wear it down. Also love the way how it looks when I wear it up in a bun – silver all around the edges with a nice black messy bun on top!! Not the style I thought I would of been sporting 6 months ago at all.
I still get weird looks. People still ask me if I dyed my hair on purpose to get this effect! To think I spent over half of my life dyeing my hair to cover up my greys in order to avoid conversations about it, and now here I am having conversations every day about grey hair!
For the people that don’t ask questions or make any comments – I see them staring in wonder. Normally trying to work out how old I must be to have so much silver hair shining through or they side glance at me, so that I don’t catch them staring, then they give me a polite smile.
It’s always lovely when a Silver Sister passes me in the street or in a shop, and we give each other the nod and smile of mutual admiration.
I have got so used to talking about my silver hair now it’s become such a joy. No more hiding!! I love it ❤️
